First Model Announced for 2015 Diecast Expo

Organisers have revealed the first limited edition model for the 2015 Diecast Expo will be a 1:18 Ford XY GTHO Superfalcon as run at Calder Park in 1971.

It will be made by Classic Carlectables, be limited to 1000 pieces and carry an ‘expo attendee’ price of $230.

from the PR blurb:

“Ford ran a program of producing two race specific Falcon’s to compete with the overseas cars that were dominating the Australian Touring car scene. One car went to big Pete Geoghegan and the other to Alan Moffat. This exclusive model depicts the car developed by Allan Moffat. Although Moffat rarely used in races this car had much significance to our touring car history.”

John French has been confirmed as the first ‘legendary driver’ to attend.

“John French was an iconic racer thru the 70’s and 80’s and one of Fords greatest drivers. Who could forgot the gorgeous XY GTHO that he drove solo to second place at Bathurst in the rain in 1972. The other great Bathurst achievement came in 1981 when he co drove with Dick Johnson to victory. John French was a very successful Ford factory and privateer race car driver and we are delighted to have him along to the 2015 Diecast model Expo. Mr French will be attending the Gala dinner and will be a guest speaker followed by a signing session. ”
