Classic’s 2013 VF V8 Supercars

Yes, they have their faults, but overall I reckon they look ok for general display purposes. It's only when you get up close the flaws pop out. The models do feel a bit toyish in hand (very light and the wheels rattle). I wonder if the wheels were locked up and ballast fitted inside, would collectors be saying "aww, this is a nice, solid, decent quality model"?

Classic Carlectables have won the race to get the first 2013 VF Commodore to market in 1/43 scale with the release of two cars each from the HRT and Red Bull Racing teams. The first thing you notice about these is at the shop – they’re featherweights compared to the past, but that’s got just … Read more Classic’s 2013 VF V8 Supercars

Apex’s 2013 FG V8 Supercars

Top front view

I received four 1/43rd scale FG Falcon V8 Supercars from Apex recently, and I must say, they’re pretty good! left to right: Alex Davison #18 “Jeldwen” FPR Ford David Reynolds #55 “Bottle-O” FPR Ford Tim Blanchard #17 “Wilson Security” DJR Ford Chaz Mostert #12 “Wilson Security” DJR Ford They’re resin with quite low production numbers … Read more Apex’s 2013 FG V8 Supercars

Some Touring Car Fixes & Enhancements

The race winning HRT had the usual paint showing through where it should not, so as with the 2010 VE retro car, some black paint easily fixes this.

A number of models that I’ve purchased (some from quite a while ago!) that needed to be fixed or enhanced in some way. Firstly, the GTHO Super Falcon from Models56/ARMCO. Next is Classic Carlectables’ 2010 HRT VE Commodore of Garth Tander/Cameron McConville in the retro livery ran at Bathurst that year to commemorate 20 years … Read more Some Touring Car Fixes & Enhancements

Apex 2012 Bathurst ‘Retro’ Cars

The two Apex models with their Classics buddies ~ The 2012 Bathurst "Retro Scheme" Collection ~

Back in April, I blogged about Classic Carlectables’ 2012 Bathurst cars, including the two ‘retro’ racers from FPR and 888 (click HERE to view). Well, the two Apex FG Falcons arrived a while back, so a direct comparison can now be made. Put simply, the Apex version is clearly the winner… and it would want … Read more Apex 2012 Bathurst ‘Retro’ Cars

Classics’ 2012 Bathurst Cars

The 2012 Bathurst 1000 race winning Vodafone entry (top) and two of the special "50th Year of Bathurst" retro livery cars. The packing is the usual job from Classics, loosely aligned with the colour scheme of the car and includes the numbered Certificate of Authenticity - nice touches if you are into that sort of thing (I'm not. I just see it as unnecessary additional expense).

The Classic Carlectables range of 2012 Bathurst cars has been released, and I’ve bought all three. After hearing horror stories about their 1:18 offerings, it is disappointing to see their 1:43s have got similar, though less severe, issues. Production figures for these ‘one off’ race versions are: Whincup/Dumbrell – 1500 pieces Lowndes/Luff – 2050 pieces … Read more Classics’ 2012 Bathurst Cars

Lotus 88 ‘Twin Chassis’

article updated Jan 2012 Minichamps released two versions of the ‘twin chassis’ Lotus 88 Formula One racer recently; the blue and red Essex version presented here, plus a black and gold Courage/Essex version. Both feature extensive use of mirror-like chrome. First impression is the model looks excellent; rich metallic blue paint with chrome and red. … Read more Lotus 88 ‘Twin Chassis’

Nissan Skyline GTR, Bathurst 1992

The bonnet decal was the largest of the lot. All decals were plain white on transparent water-slide film. The white print was not as crisp as I would have liked, however you need to get pretty close to see the ink bleed.

This is the 1992 Bathurst winner sold by Biante. The model is in 1:43 scale and was produced without Winfield cigarette decoration. Interesting Note – this is the “You’re a pack of Arse Holes” Richards/Skaife winner that actually ended the race planted in the concrete. Summary: A nice model of another Bathurst winner.

Red Line’s F2007 Ferrari

Red Line Models now offer a range of 2007 Ferraris in various versions. I purchased the Filipe Massa Bahrain GP

Ever since Minichamps lost the licence to produce contemporary F1 Ferrari models, collectors have suffered at the hands of Mattel’s Hot Wheels (or Cold Wheels as many call them!) range. Outside of the brilliant Tameo kits, it was difficult to source good quality modern F1 Ferraris – until now. Red Line Models now offer a … Read more Red Line’s F2007 Ferrari

Commodore Wars – Trax V Biante

The iconic VB Commodore has been shouting out to be modeled for many years. Well, now we have the VB and the VC modeled by both Biante and Trax. As both manufacturers have released an SL/E version, time is ripe to put them head-to-head! The Models The Numbers – Both Biantes are Limited Editions of … Read more Commodore Wars – Trax V Biante

A1GP Team Australia

English company Amalgam has now released several of the planned 22 pieces in their 1:43 A1GP range from the 2007/08 season, including this stunning example of the Team Australia car. Biante is the Australian distributor and this is where my example was purchased from. I was planning to buy several (if not all) of the … Read more A1GP Team Australia

Classic’s 2007 BF Falcon Supercar

classic carlectables BF Falcons 2007

All of the 2007 BF Falcon Supercars have now been released by Classic Carlectables. As usual, I purchase one model from each team, or both cars if the liveries are significantly different. The Classics Falcon Supercars have been pretty good of recent years (certainly better than Biante’s in my opinion) and these BFs with the … Read more Classic’s 2007 BF Falcon Supercar

Moffat/Bond XC Bathurst Falcons

Released under the AutoArt banner, this 1:43 twin set depicts the famous 1-2 finish at Bathurst in 1977. 3000 sets were produced (how else could they sell that many of the #2 car?) so they should remain at RRP for some time before they sell out. Overall, the models look good with accurate markings (but … Read more Moffat/Bond XC Bathurst Falcons
