New Stuff From Top Gear (Trax) & Biante

Top Gear’s July product brochure There are some decent models in here I’d like to buy, but Top Gear have priced themselves out of my market, eg: the yellow Des West FX #27. Trax produced a previous FX of West’s a few years back (in diecast), but this resin one is now twice the price! Why not just use the existing mould? (I’ve posed the question to Top Gear about this – now waiting for the reply). Biante V8 Supercars A number of 1:43 scale Supercars became available this weekRead More

Apex’s 2013 FG V8 Supercars

Top front view

I received four 1/43rd scale FG Falcon V8 Supercars from Apex recently, and I must say, they’re pretty good! left to right: Alex Davison #18 “Jeldwen” FPR Ford David Reynolds #55 “Bottle-O” FPR Ford Tim Blanchard #17 “Wilson Security” DJR Ford Chaz Mostert #12 “Wilson Security” DJR Ford They’re resin with quite low production numbers – 408 for Reynolds & Davison, 360 for Mostert (if Mostert’s stock keeps rising, this one could be hard to come by in future years) and 312 for Blanchard. Price is $70 each direct fromRead More

2001 Rodney Forbes AU Falcon Conversion

The finished model. I'm going to have to experiment with a better primer - note the chip on the lower edge of the front splitter? The paint job is just too fragile.

The subject for this Code 3 was Rodney Forbes’ 2001 Gibson Motorsport AU Falcon.

Paul Weel’s 2000 AU Falcon Conversion

Paul Weel’s KJ Thermal AU Falcon from the 2000 season was the subject for this conversion Here’s a tip – whenever you receive your decals, check them against the actual model! I bought these ones from Patto’s Place well over a year ago. When it was time to decal the model, I cut the first one (the black windscreen sun-strip) and it was fine. Then I moved onto the multi-coloured decal on the bonnet at the base of the windscreen. Cut it out, placed it on the bonnet to checkRead More

Trax XA Opal Series

But when presented with the various parts open, the model looks great – but is only of value if that’s how you like to display your collection…

The XA GT is the first Opal Series Ford from Trax – and it’s a pretty good subject that looks nice and appears to be selling fast. My XAs (I purchased both colours, which is unusual for me as I usually only purchase one of each new release) arrived safe and well, but I read on the Trax / Top Gear forums that several collectors had their XAs delivered with bits torn off, such as wheels and windscreen wipers. Dimensionally, the Trax XAs measure up pretty good against published specificationsRead More
