In the summer of 1971, 15-year old Steve Mirabelli and his friend combined their collections of scratch built NASCAR models – and made a movie.
“I built a 1/2 mile speedway set in my basement” Mirabelli wrote.
“I filmed the piece with an old Brownie 8mm home movie camera exposing one frame at a time moving the cars between frames. This short film took 2 months to complete.”
