Spark recently did a run of 500 pieces of Jim Richards’ Group A 1985 Australian Touring Car Championship winning BMW 635CSi (Spark item # AS017). When the 6-cylinder Bavarian bullet arrived in the post the other month, there was a glaring assembly issue with the car – the rear axle was ajar, the left wheel was poking way out past the bodywork and the right rear was buckled with massive toe-in. I communicated with the importer/retailer, Apex Replicas, and they were happy to swap it as they still had newRead More
I’m not into trucks (unless they’re loaded up with race cars!) but thought I’d share these two new and very limited pieces from boutique Australian manufacturer, Models56. The first is a 1956 Ford F600 Car Transporter, limited to 300 numbered units worldwide. The other is a Gibbs Brothers 1956 Ford (limited to just 100 units), which has a tragic back-story to it. Both are 1/43 scale resin and, the company warns, require very delicate handling! from Models56 1956 Ford F600 Car Transporter (driven and owned by Neil Scott) InRead More
Australian distributor for Spark and Minichamps, Apex Replicas, recently advised of new product planned from both manufacturers. Alarmingly, there has been significant prices rises which will surely impact sales. From a personal perspective, it’s going to reduce what I’m buying. $100 for a 1/43 scale model (or $140 for some of the Minichamps!) is out of control. Might be time to attack that stash of kits rather than buying pre-built models! communications from Apex Minichamps Minichamps have announced their initial range of 2015 Formula One cars. This year theRead More
Various updates from various places… Models56/ARMCO The car transporter truck and trailer (limited edition of 300 pieces -does not include the cars) is set for an early 2015 release. The organisation says the Landau Coupes and “some other surprises” are very close. Apex Apex Replicas will produce Marcos Ambrose’s Sydney 500 DJR/Penske merger V8 Supercar in 1:18 and 1:43 scale. The model can now be pre-orderd on the Apex website, however I’m waiting to see what it actually looks like before I place an order. The livery is setRead More
A member over on the Biante Forum was looking for a list of the models that Dinkum Classics had produced. Many years ago, such a list was sent to me…
Top Gear is now taking orders for the next model in the Select Series. There will be two colour variations of the 1960 Chrysler royal AP3 V8 sedan. The series’ previous releases have proven quite popular, but with a hefty $149 per model price tag, will this continue?
A custom HJ Holden Tow Truck would be the highlight in the latest Top Gear (Trax, Trux etc) catalog. Like most of their latest offerings, the black HJ is resin. In diecast, there’s a new FC Wagon (2 versions) and re-colour of the EJ Holden Van, this time in Rosella Jams & Sauces decoration. Click the images below for a larger version:
